DARE TO DREAM

I love encouraging and inspiring words that give you that final push to go after what you want.  There are many motivating blogs and books out there that can really make a difference in your life – sometimes life-changing ones.  All we need is to hear the right words at the right time and follow our heart.

I open this book for support and to remind myself the value of life. It has helped me make two difficult decision in my life – the first was to leave my first job at a bank to live in Japan and the second was to leave my second banking post to go into the career of teaching.

“Are you sure you want to do this?  You just started your career?”

“Why do you need to go all the way to Japan to study Japanese?”

“Everyone will be ahead of you when you come back.”

“You might not be able to find the same job again.”

“You are going into teaching? But you majored in Business and you have been in this field for many years.”

“Why don’t you stay one more year so your 401K will be fully vested?”

With all respect, I chose not to let the remarks from others who chose to live a conventional life affect my own choice of life.

If two well-established people can leave behind everything – walk away from their career, sell all their tangible assets, pull their children out of school – to fulfill their dream of going on a year-long journey around the world as a family, what do I have to lose?

We have to dare to dream and turn it into a reality.  Like the saying goes, “Nothing is worst than regretting you haven’t tried something.”

Do you have a book that has affected you in some way?

I have always loved traveling but did not venture out on my own until I was in my mid-20s. After my first solo adventure to Vietnam, I have fallen in love with the freedom and exhilaration of traveling alone. I would like to use this blog to document my travels and record memorable stories I do not want to forget. It will be a platform to share useful information and hear about others' experiences and thoughts, not necessarily about travels but also on life in general. Live a simple and meaningful life, enjoy learning along the way, travel the world and explore the unknown!
